The Site does not collect personal data directly. However, the following data is collected automatically through third parties.

2.1. Google Analytics 4

When you visit the Site, Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC, USA) automatically collects the following information:

  • IP address (in anonymised form)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Country and approximate location (city level)
  • Pages visited on the Site and time spent on them
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the Site)
  • Technical device parameters

This data is used solely to analyse Site traffic in aggregate form. The author does not identify and does not seek to identify individual visitors.

Google LLC processes this data on servers that may be located outside the visitor’s country of residence, including in the United States. Google acts as an independent data controller in accordance with its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

2.2. Contact Page and Email

The Contact page uses a direct email address (mailto:). No data is transmitted to third-party services. If you send the author an email, your contact details and the content of your message are received only by the author and used solely for the purpose of responding to your enquiry.

2.3. Substack

Links to Substack (okhodjaev.substack.com) lead to an external platform operated by Substack Inc. If you subscribe to the newsletter via Substack, your data is processed by Substack in accordance with their privacy policy. The author has no access to subscriber data beyond aggregate statistics provided by the platform.

Data collected via Google Analytics is used for a single purpose: understanding which materials are of interest to readers, in order to improve the content of the Site. The legal basis is the legitimate interest of the operator pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

Data received via email is used solely to respond to enquiries. The legal basis is the performance of a request made by the data subject.

4. Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics retention settings (14 months by default). The author does not store analytical data independently.

Email correspondence is retained in the author’s mail client for as long as necessary for the purpose of the correspondence.

5. Third-Party Disclosure

The author does not sell, transfer, or disclose visitor data to third parties, except where required by law.

6. Rights of Data Subjects (EU and UK Residents)

Under the GDPR (EU) and UK GDPR (United Kingdom), you have the following rights:
